Services: Web Design, Web Development, Drupal 9 CMS, Cloud-based Pantheon, Solr, CERES email relay service, Adobe Analytics,

Client: The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) is an independent agency of the Government of Canada that regulates and supervises more than 400 financial institutions and 1200 pension plans.

Project summary: The OSFI website was old and poorly conceived. Users often complained that they couldn’t find key information, and more critically, found the mandatory reporting function cumbersome. The technology it ran on had been retired for a while and limited support was being offered. In addition, the organization’s mandate was expanding and the current infrastructure could not support the functionality required. Therefore, OSFI needed a fully reconceived site.

Ngage’s Impact: Nage was chosen thanks to its reputation for creating strategic, user-focused digital solutions. The project involved researching and analyzing the site’s usage and audiences. The content was then audited, categorized and refined to meet users’ needs. The team then architected a cloud-based technical solution using Drupal 9, WxT 5.2.2, Pantheon, and Solr. The final solution was validated for WCAG, privacy of information, and security compliance. It was then fully optimized for cross platform and mobile devices.

The team was also asked to build API integrations with the organizations Financial Data system and CMS system. These were done with OSFI’s proprietary internal system through APIs. The output allows users to search for key data and/or organizations through word search and criteria filtering/sorting.

Result: The new OSFI site was launched to immense fanfare from the financial industry. Information was easier to find. Reporting was easier; and the financial industry loved the sleek look and much-improved information architecture and heightened functionality.
